WP.No.1375 of 2023 itself is listed today under a special list since the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as respondents would state that the issue involved is short and may be disposed today. 2.By consent of all the parties, the writ petition is itself taken up for final hearing today.
3.The petitioner has sought a mandamus directing the Assistant Engineer, O & M, Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board/R2 to consider his application bearing No.2000107510221242, dated 15.10.2022 providing domestic electricity service connection to the premises at No.110, 2nd Street, Bharath Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai-99. 4.Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel, who accepted notice for the respondents, has written instructions to state that the application has been rejected on 27.10.2022 and the said rejection was uploaded on their website. The reason stated therein is non-payment of the required charges.
5.A copy of the application that has been produced by the petitioner shows the status 'Acknowledgement issued And Registration Charges Demand Raised Pending For Registration Fee Payment.' The 2/4
amount has been quantified at Rs.9536/- and nothing has been shown to indicate payment of the said amount.
6.In light of the rejection of the application on 27.10.2022, mandamus as sought for is not liable to be issued as the petitioner have to challenge that order instead. This writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
