PRAYER: Writ Petition Filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 5 not to permit the 6th respondent to conduct Jallikattu at Ponneri Village, Senthamanglam Taluk, Namakkal District on 18.01.2025 or any other days based on the representation of the petitioner dated 08.01.2025. O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.) The petitioner seeks a negative mandamus forbearing the respondents to conduct Jallikattu in an un-notified area.

2. The grant of permission for conduct of Jallikattu has to be left to the discretion of the Authorities and this Court cannot interfere as it does not possess the expertise to decide the location of the arena for Jallikattu. However, it is found that the petitioner has objected for granting permission to conduct Jallikattu in a particular area. The respondents will consider the Page No.: 2 of 5

objection of the petitioner and thereafter proceed to take a decision as to whether the Jallikattu should be permitted or not.
