ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to pay 18% per annum interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of retirement i.e. 31.01.2024 to till the date of actual payment made i.e. 25.08.2025 to the petitioner.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the respondent Corporation and had retired from service on 30.01.2024. However, the terminal benefits were settled only on 25.08.2025. Therefore, the petitioner claimed 18% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits and he has also made a representation on 16.09.2025 to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which has not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.

4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondent to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of

retirement benefits, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, if there is no impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
