O R D E R

(The order of the Court was made by M.JAICHANDREN.,J ) This habeas corpus petition has been filed praying that this Court may be pleased to direct the respondents to produce the detenue, namely, M.Ramya, aged about 19 years, before this Court and to set her at liberty.

2. The petitioner, who is the mother of the detenue, has stated that the detenue, who was studying second year B.Sc. Nursing course, in A.M.Chidambaram Nursery College, at Chennai, had gone missing, on 25.6.2015. Therefore, the petitioner had given a complaint, before the second respondent police. The said complaint had been registered, in Crime No.1807 of 2015, as a 'girl missing' case. As the respondent police had not taken effective steps to trace the detenue, the petitioner has preferred the present habeas corpus petition, before this Court. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

3. A detailed status report, dated 12.09.2015, has been filed before this Court, by the second respondent. All the steps taken by the second respondent, in tracing the detenue, have been stated therein.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing on behalf of the respondents, had submitted that it is suspected that the detenue, along with some other students, had forged the signatures in the law books of the College and therefore, she had gone missing, fearing that disciplinary action would be initiated against her. He had further submitted that all necessary steps are being taken to trace the detenu.

In view of the said submissions made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, appearing on behalf of the respondent, we are of the view that no further orders are necessary in this habeas corpus petition. Accordingly, the habeas corpus petition stands closed. However, the respondent police is directed to continue the investigation and take necessary steps to trace the detenue, in accordance with law.
