Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issued a writ of Mandamus and direction to the respondents to issue new family card to the petitioner, viz., R.Raja, Son of Ramasamy residing at North Kattukotti, Rayappanur Village, Melnariyappur Post, Chinnasalem Taluk, Villupuram District, pursuant to the application dated 01.09.2016 in Application No.466 of 2016 as well as representation dated 16.11.2016 and pass order on the same within a reasonable time to be fixed.

By consent, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner submitted an application dated 18.11.2016 to the second respondent for issuance of new Family Card and since it has not been disposed of, he approached the office of the District Collector, Villupuram, who, vide memo dated 22.11.2016 directed the second respondent to take appropriate action and to report to their office and also to inform the same to the petitioner.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that despite the said direction, the second respondent is yet to consider the application submitted by the petitioner for issuance of new Family Card and therefore, came forward with this writ petition.

4. Heard Mrs.K.Bhuvaneswari, learned Government Advocate who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

5. Though the petitioner prays for larger relief, this Court, without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner, directs the second respondent to act on the communication of the District Collector, Villupuram dated 22.11.2016 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law on the application submitted by the petitioner dated 18.11.2016 for issuance of new Family Card, as expeditiously as possible and not later than six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.
