Ms.S.Pavithra for respondent in W.P.Nos.1348, 1352, 1355 and Mr.A.Vinothraj for respondent in W.P.No.1548 of 2026 COMMON ORDER These Writ Petitions have been filed to direct the respondents to pay interest to the petitioners at the rate of 18 % per annum for the belated payment towards terminal benefits viz., EPF Employees Contribution, Gratuity, Earned leave and Sick leave, within the time frame fixed by this Court.
2. Ms.S.Pavithra, learned counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondent in W.P.Nos.1348, 1352, 1355 and 1496 of 2026, and Mr.A.Vinothraj, learned counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondent in W.P.No.1548 of 2026. In view of the consent expressed by the learned counsel on either side, these Writ Petitions are taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

It is the case of the petitioners that the petitioners, who had joined the services of the respondent Corporation, had already retired from service, however, the terminal benefits have been settled belatedly. Therefore, the petitioners claimed 18% interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits and they have also made representations to pay interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits which has not been evoked any response so far. Hence, the petitioners are before this Court.
4. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.
5. In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest @ 6% for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of terminal benefits of the petitioners, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a
copy of this order taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
6. Accordingly, these Writ Petitions are disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
