ORDER
The intimation notice of the third respondent in File No. SE PO / IP / Thivam / V.A / Ko. Self- finance / No 094 / 2025 dated 12.05.2025, is put under challenge in the present Writ Petition and also for appropriate direction from this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side.

The learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is an agriculturist and submitted an application for an electricity service for his irrigation well for cultivation of his land situated at Ural Village, Tindivanam District under the Self Financing Scheme on 04.05.2026, for which the third respondent has sent an intimation letter on 12.05.2025, directing him to remit a sum of Rs.2,70,724/- towards electricity connection for a 5 HP agricultural pump set, without any proper break-up details for the said charge. He further submitted that the petitioner has sent a representation to the respondents on
26.05.2025 seeking clarification as well as for reconsideration of his application under the said Scheme, for which he received a letter from the Junior Engineer on 19.06.2025, however without any clarification or consent for his application and hence, the present Writ Petition.

Per contra, the learned counsel for the respondents submitted that as per the tariff of the respondents Corporation, the electricity service connection will be granted to the petitioner for his irrigation well under the Self Financing Scheme and the said amount has to be paid within 30 days. He further submitted that if the petitioner did not opt for the said Scheme, his application will be considered as per the seniority for the free agricultural electricity service connection and currently, the free agricultural service connection has been provided for the applications submitted during the year 2013.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and also taking note of the submissions made by the respective learned counsels, this Court is of the view that if the petitioner is willing to opt for Self Financing Scheme, he is directed to pay the charges as per the tariff of the respondents Corporation, within a period of 30 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, otherwise, his application will be considered under the Free Agricultural Electricity Service Connection Scheme and his seniority will be counted from the date of submission of his original application.
