ORDER

This petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking to direct the respondents herein to grant permission to the petitioner to conduct the prayer meeting at Pon Vizhla Kalai Arangam, Sulur, Coimbatore District on 27th, 28th and 29th of April 2018 and to grant adequate police protection based on his representation dated 05/02/2018.

2.The petitioner has been conducting prayer meeting from the year 2007 onwards. In connection with meeting schedule to be conducted from 27th to 29th April 2018, the petitioner had given a representation dated 05.02.2018 to the first respondent seeking for permission and protection. Since the representation has not been considered till date, the present writ petition has been filed.

3.It is needless to point out that whenever an application of such a nature is made to the statutory authorities, they are duty bound to consider the same in one way or other, rather than keeping it pending indefinitely, which amounts to dereliction of the officials duties.

4.In the result, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.02.2018 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law on or before 23.03.2018.

5. With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands disposed of.
