PRAYER : Writ Petition filed Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to c onsider the representation of the petitioner dated 21.12.2021 by processing the agreements for the works mentioned in the representation of the petitioner immediately and make all the payments for the works executed by the petitioner under the respondents 2 to 14 with interest. O R D E R

The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the first respondent to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner on 21.12.2021 by processing the agreements for the works mentioned in the representation of the petitioner.

2.The petitioner is a Class I contractor and executed several works fro the respondent Corporation and Highways Department for the past about 10 years. The petitioner is entitled to participate in any tender for the value of above Rs.75 lakhs. The petitioner has set out the works executed by him for the respondent Corporation and the learned counsel for the petitioner made a submission that without any valid reason, the amounts due to the petitioner has not been settled so far despite several request made by the petitioner. 3.

The learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent Corporation, on instructions, made a submission that several zones of the Greater Chennai Corporation are involved in execution of various contract works and therefore the Corporation has to consider various documents and take an appropriate decision for settlement of all dues. The learned counsel for the respondent further made a submission that the local body elections are scheduled during the third week of February 2022 and therefore, a reasonable time may be granted to the authorities for verification of records and finalize the disputes.

4.In view of the submissions made, the respondents are directed to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner on 21.12.2021 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petitioner is directed to enclose the copy of the representation and all other relevant documents along with a copy of this order.

5.With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
