The petitioner/A1 in Crime No.8 of 2023 registered by the respondent police for the offences punishable under Section 420 of IPC seeks anticipatory bail.

2. It is the case of the prosecution that the petitioners/accused had taken on hire a Bolero Car belonging to the defacto complainant bearing Regn.No.TN-03-J4-509 and had not repaid the rental amount. The car was also not handed over to the defacto complainant. It is the further case of the prosecution that in this manner, 24 complains had been given about the accused taking over the cars of those 24 persons. Only, 8 cars have recovered. The cars are taken either with a promise to pay the monthly rent or with promise to purchase the car. It is stated that the co-accused/A2 had been arrested and granted bail. 1/3

3. Taking into consideration the seriousness of the offence and the magnitude, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. Vv 28.02.2024 2/3
