Prayer:- Civil Revision Petition has been filed under Article 227 of the Constitution of India, to set aside the decreetal order of XVIII Additional City Civil Court, Chennai in CMA.No.35 of 2004 dated 21.12.2024 by confirming the order of XVI Assistant City Civil Court in IA.No.2 of 2024 in OS.No.5111 of 2024 on 30.09.2024 and allow revision. ORDER

Pursuant to the order of this Court dated 07.04.2025, a status report has been filed by the Secretary, Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and an another status report has been filed by the Superintendent of Police, North Zone, Crime Branch CID, Chennai.

2. Mrs.Greetha Senthil Kumar, Secretary of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry would submit that pursuant to the direction passed by this Court, enquiry has been initiated against the Firm 2/ 6

JMI Associates and the Advocates associated with the JMI Associates. She would further submit that enquiry is going on and enquiry will be completed at the earliest.

3. Mr.Raj Thilak, learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that the Inspector General of Police, CBCID, Chennai vide proceedings dated 09.04.2025 in C.No.E-9886515/Cr II (4)/2025 has nominated Thiru.G.Jawahar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North Zone, CBCID, Chennai and Thiru.R.K.Sasidhar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Metro-I, CBCID, Chennai as Investigation Officer and Assistant Investigation Officer respectively to investigate the case registered in Crime Nos.2/2025 and 3/2025. He would further submit that the status report has already been filed by the said Thiru.G.Jawahar with regard to the progress of the investigation. He would further submit that as and when the investigation is completed, the final report will be filed before the appropriate Forum.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would also submit that in respect of the complaint given by the Advocates with regard to the spreading of defamatory contents about the personal character of 3/ 6

Advocates on social media, request has been submitted to the intermediaries and so far 292 posts have been removed and he would submit that steps are also taken to remove the remaining contents in social media.

5. The status reports are taken on file. The Secretary, Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and the Superintendent of Police, North Zone, Crime Branch, CBCID, Chennai are directed proceed with the enquiry and final reports shall be filed in accordance with law preferably within a period of six months from today.

6. With the above directions, the Civil Revision Petition stands closed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
