This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to appoint the petitioner to the post of Sub-Inspector of Police (Technical) - 2018 pursuant to the Advertisement No.1/2018 dated 11.07.2018 by considering his claim on the basis of the Provisional Selection under the SC (A) category and also with that of PSTM category reservation and to extend all benefits thereto.

The relief sought for in the present writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondents to appoint the petitioner to the post of Sub-Inspector of Police (Technical)-2018, pursuant to the Advertisement No.1/2018 dated 11.07.2018 by considering his claim on the basis of the Provisional selection under the SC (A) category and also under PSTM category reservation and to extend all benefits.

2. The writ petitioner participated in the process of selection for Recruitment to the post of Sub-Inspector of Police (Technical). The petitioner was successful in the written examination. However, he was not selected under the category in which he submitted his application. The learned counsel for the writ petitioner states that the petitioner is eligible to avail https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

the benefit of reservation under the Schedule Caste-Arunthathiar as well as he is eligible to avail the benefits under PSTM candidates.

However, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondent now brought to the notice of this Court that the petitioner had participated in the process of selection and he was found qualified in the physical measurement test, having selected for viva voce. The petitioner has secured 4.8 marks in the viva-voce.

4. The petitioner had secured 40 marks in the written test. But 4.8 marks in the viva-voce and in total he secured 44.8 marks. Since the petitioner did not secure the required cut off marks of 48.8, he was not included in the final provisional selection list for Police Verification and Medical Examination, which was uploaded in the TNUSRB web site on 13.12.2018.

5. In view of the fact that the writ petitioner is not within the zone of consideration as he secured less marks than that of the cut off marks prescribed, the grounds raised in the present writ petition deserves no further consideration.

6. Accordingly, the present writ petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
