This writ petition has been filed for issue of writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 30.12.2022 wherein, the petitioner has sought for promotion based on the service put in by him as a Motor Operator of water supply for the last 28 years. 2.The case of the petitioner is that he was appointed as Water Supplier in the year 1984 and he was brought under consolidated pay in the year 2001. Initially, the petitioner was employed by the Katpadi Town Panchayat which subsequently got merged with the Vellore Corporation. In the year 2013, the petitioner was appointed as a Motor Operator in water supply. 3.The grievance of the petitioner is that he has been holding the same post for so many years and persons who were similarly placed have been given promotion as Supervisor.
Hence, the petitioner made a representation in this regard and since the same was not considered by the respondents, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court seeking for appropriate direction. 4.Heard Mr.B.Gopalakrishnan, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Mrs.R.
behalf of the 1st respondent and Mr.P.S.Prabhu, learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the 2nd & 3rd respondents. 5.Taking into consideration the limited relief sought in the present writ petition and without going into the merits of the case, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 30.12.2022 on its own merits and in accordance with law and pass an order, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the 2nd respondent along with all the relevant documents and also a copy of this order. 6.This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction.
