ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus, seeking a direction against the respondents to pay interest at 10% per annum for the delayed payment of surrendered leave salary to the petitioners.

2. The writ petitioners had joined the service of the first respondent as Company Trainees and Junior Engineers. After putting in nearly 34 to 35 years of continuous service, they had taken voluntary retirement on various dates. It is contended that the surrendered leave salary had not been settled within the stipulated time. It has been stated that it was settled much later, after they had taken voluntary retirement. Now, by this Writ Petition, they claim interest at the rate of 10% per annum.

3. The respondents may examine each one of the cases individually

and examine the reason for the belated payment of surrendered leave salary, and are under an obligation to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum. The amount may be disbursed within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
