within a time frame.

ORDER

The petitioners who are the senior citizens, aggrieved over the order of the second respondent dated 17.03.2023 passed on the petition filed by the petitioners under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

2. The petitioners have filed an appeal before the first respondent and the said appeal is still pending. The very object of the special act itself is to safeguard the interest of senior citizens and the proceedings under this Act has to be taken as expeditiously as possible. Since the first respondent has not initiated action on the appeal preferred by the petitioners, they have filed this writ petition.

3. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the first respondent is directed to consider the appeal filed by the petitioners and pass an order within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a

copy of this order.

4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is allowed. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
