PRAYER:Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to remove the videos in the online social media by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 03.01.2023.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 3 to remove the videos in the online social media by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 03.01.2023.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that petitioner husband is one N.Jawahar. Due to matrimonial dispute between them, they got separated and matrimonial proceedings are pending. Meanwhile, the said N.Jawahar circulated various objectionable videos in social media. Therefore, petitioner gave a complaint dated 03.01.2023 against her husband. The 3rd respondent registered a case in C.S.R.No.8 of 2023. However, the videos contents are still available in the social media. Therefore, this petition is filed to remove the videos in the online social media.

3. In response, learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) submitted that, on the basis of the complaint given by the petitioner, C.S.R.No.08 of 2023 was given. There are about nine videos circulated in Youtube and news channels. Immediately, after receipt of the complaint, the Inspector of Police sent a requisition to the Inspector of Police Cyber Crime, for taking steps to delete the objectionable videos. Therefore, out of nine videos, seven had been deleted and steps have been taken for deleting the remaining two videos.

Recording the submissions of the learned Government Advocate (Criminal side), this Court disposes this petition, giving direction to the respondents 1 to 3 to take effective steps for removing the remaining two videos from youtube and news channels within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of, with the above directions. No costs.
