The petitioner who is aged about 21 years, had a threat from her own parents. According to her they are forcing her to marry maternal uncle.

2. Since the University semester exams are going to be held on the following dates namely 04.04.2018, 23.04.2018, 26.04.2018 and 28.04.2018 to 04.05.2018, the present petition has been filed seeking for police protection.

3. The learned Government Advocate, on instruction, submitted that if specific directions are given, the same will be complied with.

4. In this background, there shall be a direction to the respondent police to give police protection to the petitioner and ensure that she takes her university examination without any obstruction or hindrance from her parents or any others. It is needless to point out that the petitioner being a major, has the liberty to choose a person as a life partner of her choice and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

that her parents may not be justified in compelling her to marry a person as per their wishes. However, it is made clear that this Court is not expressing any of its views with regard to the allegation that her parents compelled her to marry her uncle and this aspect is left open for further deliberations.

5. Accordingly, the criminal original petition stands allowed.
