ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus, seeking a direction against the respondent to pay unpaid 8/10/11 days salary of last retirement month with 10% interest to the petitioners.

2. The Writ Petitioners have joined as Conductors and Drivers on the following dates: 18.02.1986, 26.09.1991, 13.05.1988, 11.07.1994, 10.01.1990, 01.12.1992, 06.03.1992, 18.09.1997, 23.09.1991, 05.06.1999,

They had retired on attaining the age of superannuation on the following dates: 31.12.2022, 31.03.2017, 31.05.2024, 31.01.2017, 31.07.2023, 31.08.2018, 31.10.2016, 31.05.2022, 30.06.2022, 31.01.2023, 30.09.2015, 30.06.2022, 31.12.2013, 31.12.2022, 30.06.2023, 28.02.2017, 28.02.2023, 31.03.2023, 28.02.2023, and 31.01.2023. It is contended that the respondents had not paid the last salary for about 8, 10, or 11 days, depending on the date on which each one of the petitioners actually retired. It is seeking that particular salary that the present Writ Petition has been filed.

3. Mr.R.Venkatesa Perumal, learned Standing Counsel had taken notice on behalf of the respondents.

4. In such circumstances, this Court deems it fit to direct that the service records of each one of the petitioners may be examined individually and if the petitioners are eligible for payment of salary, a decision in that regard may be taken within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt

of a copy of this order. If any clarification is required, the petitioners may be put on notice and they may answer the said clarification. Since there has been a delay in payment, the petitioners would be entitled to interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the amount payable till the date of disbursement from the respective dates of their retirement.

5. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
