ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by R.SUBBIAH, J.) This writ petition has been filed for the issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct respondents 1 and 2 to consider and pass

orders on the applications of the petitioner dated 15.12.2017 and 20.12.2017 within a stipulated period.

2.In the affidavit filed in support of the petition, it has been averred that the petitioner and her sister K.Sarala are the daughters of one Ganesan and Panjali. They belong to "Puthirai Vannan" caste, which is recognised as Scheduled Caste community. In fact, the sister of the petitioner has already obtained Scheduled Caste Community Certificate from the respondents. Based on the said certificate, the petitioner has also submitted an application dated 24.04.2017 to the second respondent for issuance of the Scheduled Caste Community Certificate. The said application was acknowledged by the said respondent. Thereafter, it was forwarded to the third respondent. Since no order has been passed on the said representation, again another representation was sent on 03.05.2017 to the first respondent. Inspite of the reminder, till date, no order has been passed. Hence the petitioner has come up with the present writ petition.

3.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

4.Having heard the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and since the scope of the prayer is very limited, we are not inclined to traverse into the entire averments in the affidavit. Further, we are of the view that a simple direction to consider the application of the petitioner would be suffice to meet the interest of justice. Hence respondents 1 and 2 are directed to consider the applications of the petitioner dated 15.12.2017 and 20.12.2017 and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
