Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to extend the Petitioner's (Veera Bharathi S/o. Ponniah, aged about 53/2024 years, L.Ct.No.7209, Central Prison - I, Puzhal, Chennai) present emergency leave which expires on 25.01.2024, by providing such spell of 40 days ordinary leave, on the same terms and conditions of the present leave, by granting appropriate exemptions through the powers conferred under Rule No.40 of the Tamil Nadu Suspension of Sentence Rules, 1982, in the peculiar nature of the ensuing extraordinary reasons of the present issue.

(Order of the Court was made by M.S.RAMESH,J.) The petitioner was originally granted ordinary leave from 15.01.2024 to 24.01.2024. Subsequently, the leave was extended upto 10.02.2024 by an order dated 24.01.2024 and the petitioner was directed to surrender before the concerned Superintendent of Prisons on 11.02.2024 before 5.00 p.m. Hence, the petitioner is required to surrender before the concerned Superintendent of Prisons on 11.02.2024 before 5.00 p.m. 2.As such, no further orders are required to be passed in this writ petition and accordingly, W.P.No.1691 of 2024 is closed.
