(Judgment of the Court was delivered by R.Subbiah, J.,) The petitioner has filed this Writ Petition seeking for issuance of a Writ, in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondent to consider the representation, dated 03.02.2018 and pass orders.

Mr. R. Madhan Raj, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that, the petitioner is a Sangam/Society, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975. The petitioner/Sangam is effectively involving in various Hindu customs and cultural programs, to protect and cultivate the Hindu traditions among Hindu people. Now, the petitioner/Sangam intends to host a cultural program, viz., 'Jallikattu'. The petitioner/Sangam has consulted with its members and the neighbouring people with regard to the safety measures of the public and has chosen a particular place, viz., the place situated at border of two Villages, i.e. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Paiyanur and Pandithamedu, nearby OMR Road, in S.No.89/1, 89/2 and 89/3, which is suitable for conducting the program and also obtained consent from the land owners for the said purpose. Therefore, seeking permission to host the said program, the petitioner has submitted a representation, dated 13.03.2018 to the respondent/District Collector, who is a competent Authority to consider and pass orders. Since the said representation evoked no response and the program is proposed to the conducted in the eve of Masi Magam, which is nearing, the petitioner is constrained to file this Writ Petition, seeking for the relief, as stated above.

3. Ms. Thanga Vadhana Balakrishnan, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent would submit that the representation made by the petitioner would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed by the respondent/District Collector within a period of two weeks.

Considering the limited scope of the prayer, sought for, by the petitioner, in this Writ Petition, this Court, without expressing any view with regard to the merits of the case projected by the petitioner, directs the respondent/District Collector, Kancheepuram District, to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 03.02.2018, and pass appropriate orders within a period of two weeks from today, and communicate the decision taken to the petitioner. 5.
