Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider the petitioner for the post of Secondary Grade Teacher (Direct Recruitment) in Primary and Middle Schools conducted by Teachers Recruitment Board, Chennai. The relief sought for in this writ petition is for a direction to consider the representation submitted by the writ petitioner for appointment to the post of Secondary Grade Teacher.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner submitted that the writ petitioner had attended the interview for recruitment to the post of Secondary Grade Teacher and therefore, the petitioner is to be appointed. 3.This Court is of the opinion that mere participation in the interview cannot confer any right on the petitioner to claim appointment. Appointment itself can never be claimed as a matter of right. The candidates participated in the process of selection is to be selected and thereafter, the appointment can be issued only in accordance with Rules, as per the select list and not otherwise.

4. A mere participation in the interview by virtue of the call letter cannot be considered as a ground for issuing a direction to appoint the writ petitioner. Thus, the prayer as such sought for, cannot be granted and the other grounds raised in this writ petition deserve no further consideration. 5.Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed.
