O R D E R
When the matter was taken up for hearing today, a status report was filed by the respondent and the relevant portion is extracted hereunder:
"3. Accordingly I enclose herewith the details of collection as per the orders of Hon'ble High Court dated 19.09.2025. As per the statement enclosed, I submit to inform that out of the arrears of Rs.32,58,682/- (Rupees Thirty Two Lakhs Fifty Eight Thousand Six Hundred Eighty Two only) already reported, a sum of Rs.25,91,461/- (Rupees Twenty Five lakhs ninety one thousand four hundred and sixty one only) have been collected as per column 5 & 6 during the period from 04.07.2025 to 09.10.2025 and leave the balance of Rs.9,73,127/- (Rupees Nine Lakhs Seventy Three Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Seven only) as per column 8 of the DCB report.
4. I further submit that the Special Officer/Block Devlopment Officer (V.P) Kadambathur has been instructed to take suitable follow up action including conducting meeting for owners of the companies. Also the Block Development Officer (V.P) has been issued warning letter to the factories to pay the arrears.
Hence, it is most humbly prayed that the Hon'ble High Court pleased to kindly consider the efforts made to reduce the arrears from Rs.2,21,79,224/- to a remaining balance of Rs.9,73,127/-. Hence, I request to consider our effort in collecting the huge amount of arrears to the tune of Rs.2,12,06,097/- (Arrear Collection - 95.6%)..." 2/5
2. The above status report is accompanied by a detailed statement showing the arrears and the collection made and the same is scanned and reproduced hereunder:

The learned Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondent submitted that in the status report as well as in the tabular column, a sum of Rs.7,00,885/- has been shown as the balance amount to be paid towards property tax. However, by oversight, the property tax that has to be collected from the residential units has been wrongly added. Therefore, it was submitted that the remaining tax that has to be collected will only be Rs.2,72,242/- [Rs.65,742/- + Rs.2,06,500/-].
4. The learned Additional Advocate General submitted that the concerned company has challenged the imposition of this tax and the same is pending.

5. In the considered view of this Court, a substantial progress has been made in this case due to the continuous follow up on the side of the learned Additional Advocate General and hence, this Court is inclined to close this contempt petition.
Accordingly, this Contempt Petition is closed. 10.10.2025 gpa 4/5
