Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Habeas Corpus to call for the entire records of the 2nd respondent in his proceedings D.O.No.116/2021-C2 to quash the same and consequently direct the respondents to produce the petitioner's father Settu @ Thirugnanam, aged 50 years, S/o.Kasi, before this Court, now confined in the Central Prison, Vellore, set him at liberty forthwith. The petitioner challenges the impugned order of detention in Memo D.O.No.116/2021-C2 dated 16.12.2021 detaining his father as "Bootlegger", as contemplated under Section 2(b) of the Tamil Nadu Act 14 of 1982.
The learned Additional Public Prosecutor reports that the order of detention passed against the detenu has been revoked by the Government by its order in G.O.Rt.No.1372, Home, Prohibition and Excise (XI) Department, dated 14.03.2022 and he has also produced a copy of the Government Order. Recording the same, this Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed.
