This writ petition has been filed for the issue of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 28.12.2022, wherein, the petitioner has sought for refixation of his basic salary and to pay the attendant benefits. 2.The case of the petitioner is that he joined the service of the Tamil Nadu Police Department in the year 1980. The petitioner ultimately retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation on 30.06.2019. The pension of the petitioner was fixed by taking the salary as Rs.51,000/- at the time of retirement.

3.The grievance of the petitioner is that the officers, who are similarly placed like the petitioner, are receiving a higher pension since the pension was fixed by fixing the last drawn salary as Rs.55,700/- and Page No.2 of 6

Rs.57,400/-. Hence, the petitioner made a representation in this regard on 28.12.2022. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed seeking for appropriate directions. 4.Heard Mr.V.Lakshmi Narayanan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.E.Sundaram, learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents.

5.Taking into consideration the limited relief sought for in this writ petition and without going into the merits of the case, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 28.12.2022 and deal with the same on its own merits and in accordance with law and a decision shall be taken within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the 2nd respondent along with all the relevant documents and also a copy of this order. Page No.3 of 6
