ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed by the petitioner/ complainant seeking expeditious disposal of Crl.M.P.No.890 of 2025 pending on the file of the learned II Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore. 1/4

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is a septuagenarian and one K. Devi, cheated the petitioner/de facto complainant to an amount of Rs. 11,85,000/-. Hence, the petitioner had preferred a complaint to the respondent-police on 05.08.2024. Since the respondentpolice has not taken any action on the said complaint, the petitioner has preferred a petition under Section 156(3) of Cr.P.C. in Crl.M.P.No.890 of 2025 before the learned II Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore. However, the learned Magistrate, without taking into consideration the fact that the petitioner is a septuagenarian, has been repeatedly adjourning the matter without passing final orders on the same. Hence, a direction is sought to be issued for early disposal of Crl.M.P.No.890 of 2025.

3. Heard learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

4. Considering the fact that the petitioner is a septuagenarian, the learned II Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore is directed to give top priority and pass orders in Crl.M.P.No.890 of 2025 as expeditiously as possible, 2/4

preferably within a period of four (4) weeks from the next date of hearing, ie., 11.02.2026.

5. With the above direction, this criminal original petition stands disposed of.
