Respondents PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the 5th respondent to consider petitioner representation dated 07.11.2025 and to take appropriate action to remove the illegal encroachments made in the temple land in Survey No.372/3 situated in Zamin Pallavaram Village, Tambaram Taluk, Chengalpattu District 600 043. 2. These writ petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution
of India seek direction to the respondent authorities to take appropriate action to remove the illegal encroachments made in the pond in Survey No.372/1 and the temple land in Survey No.372/3, respectively, situated in Zamin Pallavaram Village, Tambaram Taluk, Chengalpattu District.
3. Learned State counsel submitted that the fourth respondent/Tahsildar has filed the status report stating that as per the addendum register of Pallavaram Village (in the year 1979), Survey No.372/1 has been classified as Government poramboke "Oor Natham" measuring an extent of 1 Acre 22 Cents, whereas in UDR "A" register as well as in TSLR, it stood classified as Kulam. Similarly, as per the addendum register of the Pallavaram Village (in the year 1979), Survey No.372/3 has been classified as Government poramboke, "Oor Natham" measuring an extent of 22 cents, whereas in the UDR "A" register as well as in TSLR, it stood classified as Koil.
4. Learned State Counsel further submitted that a detailed report has been sent to the District Collector, Chengalpattu, through the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tambaram, vide letter dated 20.1.2026 qua classification change and further action to be undertaken and the same
is under consideration. He would submit that, after due enquiry and examination of the revenue records and also based on the decision of the District Collector, further action will be taken in accordance with law.
5. In view of the aforesaid statement made by learned State counsel, these writ petitions are disposed of with a direction to the District Collector, Chengalpattu, to complete the enquiry, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and take a decision and initiate further action, if necessary, in accordance with law. In case the petitioners are aggrieved by the decision of the District Collector, they can seek appropriate remedy in accordance with law. There shall be no order as to costs.
