O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of a writ of mandamus directing the 1st respondent to act upon the application submitted by the petitioner on 17.11.2023, wherein the petitioner is seeking for issuance of passport in his name.

2.Heard Mr.A.M.Venkata Krishnan, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mrs.P.Rajalakshmi, learned Central Government Counsel for R1 and Mr.R.Venkatesa Perumal, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) for R2. 3.The respondent did not process the application only on the ground that an FIR came to be registered in Crime No.336 of 2016. 4.When the matter was take up for hearing today, the learned Government 2/4

Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing on behalf of the 2nd respondent submitted that the investigation was conducted and further action was dropped. 5.In the light of the above development, there shall be a direction to the 1st respondent to process the application and to issue passport to the petitioner, if the petitioner has satisfied all the other requirements. This process shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of the order. 6.In the result, this writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
