O R D E R
(This case has been heard through video conference) This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking to quash the proceedings in C.C.No.2899 of 2016 on the file of the X Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai.
2. The case of the prosecution is that the 2nd respondent is the defacto complainant and the petitioners / A2 to A5 are the in-laws of the defacto complainant. The marriage between the defacto complainant and A1 took place on 18.11.2009 and out of the said wedlock, they were blessed with twin children. While so, the petitioners along with A1 harassed and committed cruelty on the defacto complainant by demanding dowry. Therefore, based on the complaint given by the defacto complainant, FIR was came tobe registered in Crime No.978 of 2014 by the 1st respondent police. After completion of investigation, the respondent police filed charge sheet and the case is taken up in C.C.No.2899 of 2016 on the file of the X Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai.
3. When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Counsel for the Government (Crl. Side) would submit that the trial has already been commenced and the defacto complainant's chief examination is over. The learned counsel further submitted that the matter is adjourned for examination of further witnesses.
4. In view of the above facts and circumstances of the case, the trial Court is directed to complete the trial within a period of three months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
