O R D E R

The relief sought for in the present writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondent to issue passport to the petitioner based on the petitioner's representation dated 04.01.2016.

2. The grievances of the petitioner is that his name is K.Ashok Kumar. However, in the Birth Certificate, it was erroneously recorded as Mr.K.Ashok. Therefore, the respondent refused to issue Passport in the name of the petitioner. The petitioner thus constrained to approach this Court.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted the copy of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette published on 14th January 2015, wherein the petitioner has effected name change in accordance with the provisions of the Act. In the said Notification, Sl.No.1621, states that "I, K.Ashok, son of Thiru.S.Kumar, born on 21st December (native district:Chennai), residing at No.4/286, Muthumariamman 6th Street, Palavakkam, Chennai - 600 041, shall henceforth be known as K.Ashok Kumar."

4. In view of the fact that the petitioner has effected name change in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, his application is to be considered, if the said application is otherwise in order.

5. In view of the factum established, the petitioner is at liberty to submit a fresh application along with the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and all other relevant documents before the respondent for the purpose of issuing of Passport and on receipt of any such application, the respondent is directed to consider the same in accordance with law and take a decision as expeditiously as possible.

6. With these directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
