This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondent Police to file a final report in Crime No.11 of 2018.

2. The brief facts of the case are that accused 1 to 6, who were holding their posts as Public Servants, by abusing their position, had entered into a criminal conspiracy with accused 7 to 9 and caused loss to the Government in the sale of land belonging to the Society named "North Arcot District ExServicemen Co-operative Timber and Blacksmith Workers and Service Limited" to accused 7 to 9, for undervalue with the dishonest intention either by obtaining or in anticipation of obtaining pecuniary or undue advantage from accused 7 to 9. Thereby, the respondent Police has registered a case in Crime No.11 of 2018 for the offence under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) and 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 r/w Sections 7, 13(1)(a) r/w 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Sections 120(b), 409, 420, 465, 468, 471 of IPC, against accused 1 to 9 on 10.12.2018.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the First Information Report was filed during the year 2018 and the respondent is not taking effective steps to file a final report, therefore, the present petition has been filed seeking a suitable direction to the respondent to file a final report.

4. Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that the investigation in this case has been completed and the final report is also ready, however, since the final report is awaiting approval from the Directorate, it has not been filed. Therefore, some reasonable time has to be given to the respondent to file the final report.

5. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) for the respondent Police and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), this Criminal Original Petition stands ordered with a direction to the respondent to file the final report, as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this 3/5
