PRAYER : Writ Petition filed Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, calling for the impugned order passed by the 3rd respondent in Na.Ka.No.Aa1/393/2015 dated 19.05.2015 and quash the same and consequently direct the respondents 3 to 5 to provide the essential commodities to the petitioner's Ration Card bearing No.01/G/0267374 at every month without any reason attached with 5th respondent shop.

O R D E R

The family ration card issued to the petitioner was expired. The petitioner has not renewed the ration card and under those circumstances, supply of essential commodities was not provided to the petitioner. Thus, the petitioner approached the authorities who in turn passed the order impugned in the proceedings dated 19.05.2015 stating that the petitioner has to renew the ration card for the purpose of getting the essential commodities through fair price shops.

2.This Court is of the considered opinion that six years lapsed, the petitioner has to renew the card or submit necessary application for grant of new ration card in the manner known to law. The procedure for grant of family card is now changed and smart card system is implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Under these circumstances, if any grievance exists as of now to the writ petitioner, it is left open to her to approach the competent authorities for the purpose of redressal of her grievances in the manner prescribed.

3.With these observations, the writ petition stands disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. s/d- Assistant Registrar //True Copy// Sub-Assistant Registrar cse To 1.The Secretary to Government, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department Secretariat, Fort St. George, Chennai - 600 009.
