PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a writ of Certiorari, to call for the records pertaining to G.O.(D).No.524 Labour and Employment Department dated 09.05.2003 on the files of the 1st respondent and that of I.D.No.343 of 2003 on the files of the 2nd respondent and quash the same.

The challenge in the present writ petition is to a Government Order in G.O.(D).No.524 dated 09.05.2003, wherein a reference was made to the Labour Court for determination of certain issues.
2. Today, when the matter was called, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the reference was enquired into in the dispute in I.D.No.343 of 2008, on the file of the II Additional Labour Court, Chennai and an award was also passed on 10.07.2017. As such, the prayer sought for in the present writ petition has become infructuous.
3. At this juncture, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that they had inadvertently mentioned the dispute number wrong, whereby, the I.D.No.34 of 2003, as mentioned by the petitioner in the writ petition, should read as I.D.No.343 of 2003. Since the mistake seems to be inadvertent, the Registry is also directed to suitably amend the I.D. number in the affidavit as well as the petition, wherever it is found. Since the prayer sought for in the writ petition has become infructuous, no effective orders can be passed in the present writ petition.
