ORDER

Asserting that the petitioner is the absolute owner of the 2 1⁄2 cents in Survey No.45/9, the petitioner executed a settlement deed in favour of his wife and presented the same for registration. According to the petitioner, in spite of complying with the requisite 1/4

formalities, the respondent has refused to receive the document. Hence this writ petition.

2. Mr.S.Jayachandran, learned Government Advocate, accepts notice for the sole respondent. He submits that the petitioner has not presented the document for registration and, if presented, necessary steps would be taken for registration.

3. Taking note of the above submission of learned Government Advocate, this writ petition is disposed of on the following terms:

3.1 The petitioner shall re-present the settlement deed for registration within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order;

3.2 Within two weeks from such re-presentation, subject to fulfillment of requirements relating to registration, the registering officer shall register the document or issue a speaking order of refusal. There shall be no order as to costs.
