ORDER
The writ petition has been filed in the nature of mandamus seeking a direction to the first respondent, the Principal Secretary to Government, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the proposal of the third respondent, the Commissioner, Thiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation at Thiruchirappalli in letter No.8093/2024/C1(Main) dated 18.10.2024.
2. By such proposal, the third respondent had forwarded the name of the petitioner for promotion as Assistant Executive Engineer in Thiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation. The petitioner is otherwise eligible. The petitioner had been initially appointed as Overseer in Kulithalai Municipality on 26.11.1997. He had been granted successive promotions and now he is due to be promoted as Assistant Executive Engineer. He had given a representation on 04.10.2023 in this regard.
3. It is stated that the third respondent had forwarded the name of the petitioner for consideration to be promoted as Assistant Executive Engineer and that, the said issue is pending before the first respondent.
4. A direction is issued to the first respondent to examine the relevant records relating to the service of the petitioner and take a considered decision about the promotion of the petitioner to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer in accordance with rules and regulations as proposed by the third respondent, the Commissioner, Thiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation. Such orders by the first respondent should be passed within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
