Minor.Abhishek Nishad, v. The Registrar,
IN THE HIGH COURT OF JUDICATURE AT MADRAS
DATED: 11.04.2018
CORAM:
THE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE S.VAIDYANATHAN W.P.No.8331 of 2018 Minor Abhishek Nishad rep. by his father and next friend Prakash Chandra Nishad ... Petitioner vs.
The Registrar, Council of Architecture, Core 6-A, 1st Floor, India Habitat Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi - 110 003.
... Respondent Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a writ of Mandamus directing the Respondent to permit the Petitioner to register his name for the examination of National Aptitude Test in Architecture - NATA 2018, which is scheduled to be held on 29.04.2018 based on his e-mail representation dated 03.04.2018, forthwith.

O R D E R
The minor Petitioner, represented by his father, has come up with this Writ Petition seeking a direction to the Respondent to permit him to register his name for the examination of National Aptitude Test in Architecture - NATA 2018, which is scheduled to be held on 29.04.2018, based on his e-mail representation dated 03.04.2018, forthwith.
2.
According to the Petitioner's father, on 03.01.2018, the Respondent issued a Notification for conducting National Aptitude Test in Architecture - NATA 2018 for B.Arch. 5 year course. The last date for submission of online registration was originally fixed on 02.03.2018 and subsequently, the date was extended to 30.03.2018 and the examination is scheduled to be held on 29.04.2018.

3.
It is the case of the Petitioner's father that since he went to Uttar Pradesh to visit his aged ailing mother at Gorakhpur District, he could not follow the said Notification of the Respondent and that he came to know about the same only on 02.04.2018. Though, according to him, he immediately took steps to register the name of his son, minor Abhishek Nishad to appear for the said Test, scheduled to be held on 29.04.2018, by sending an e-mail to the Respondent on 03.04.2018, there was no reply to the same. Hence, he has approached this Court. 4.
Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials placed on record.
5.
On two grounds, the relief sought for in this Writ Petition cannot be granted, firstly, the extended time limit to submit online applications for appearing in NATA Examination 2018 is already over, as on 30.03.2018 and secondly, the Petitioner's father has sent an e-mail to the Respondent only on 03.04.2018 at 8.05 p.m., much later than the time stipulated. Before the e-mail could have been opened by the Officials of the Respondent, the Petitioner has rushed to this Court by filing the present Writ Petition on 04.04.2018 itself, which shows his hastiness.
In view of the above, the Writ Petition is dismissed as devoid of merits. No costs.
