O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the respondent-Police to investigate the case in Crime No.287 of 2023 and to file a final report within a stipulated time frame.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent-Police and perused the materials available on record.

3. Originally, the petitioner lodged a complaint against the accused persons on 25.01.2023 before the respondent Police. Since the respondent Police has not taken action on the said complaint, the petitioner filed a petition in C.M.P.No.1621 of 2023 before the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Alandur. The learned Magistrate vide order dated 05.06.2023, directed the respondent-Police to register an F.I.R as against the accused persons. Hence, the respondent-Police registered a case in Crime No.287 of 2023 on 07.08.2023. Though F.I.R has been registered on 07.08.2023 itself, the respondent-Police has not yet filed the final report. It shows the lethargic attitude of the respondent-Police and the same is highly

condemnable.

4. The respondent-Police is directed to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Failing which, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, St.Thomas Mount is directed to appear before this Court.

5. With the abovesaid direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
