ORDER

This writ petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction to the respondents to include the name of the petitioner in the selection list of Sub-Inspectors for the year 1994 of Vellore Range and to promote him as Sub-Inspector of Police.

2.The learned counsel for both sides are present. 3.When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents produced a copy of the written instructions dated 16.03.2023 before this Court, in which it is stated that the petitioner was promoted as Sub-Inspector of Police with effect from 18.12.1998 and he had continued his service in Tiruvannamalai District and thereafter, by an order dated 09.07.2007, the petitioner was transferred from Tiruvannamalai District to Vellore District and he had retired from service on 31.03.2010, on reaching the age of superannuation.

4.In view of the above, the grievance of the petitioner has been met and hence no effective orders can be passed in the present writ petition. Accordingly, this writ petition stands closed. No costs. 17.03.2023 Index:Yes/No Internet:Yes/No smv To 1.Director General of Police, Chennai - 2.
