Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle the terminal benefits of the petitioner of Rs. 58 400/- towards arrears of House Rent Allowance and City Compensatory Allowance with interest at the rate of 6% per annum by taking into consideration of representation of the petitioner dated 23.02.2018.

The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the respondents to settle the House Rent Allowance arrears and the City Compensatory Allowance, to be paid to the writ petitioner.
2. The petitioner was appointed as a Conductor on 10.11.1979 and was promoted to the post of Checking Inspector and retired from service on 30.09.2016, on attaining the age of superannuation.
3. The grievance of the writ petitioner is that the House Rent Allowance, for which he is eligible, had not been settled for several months. The City Compensatory Allowance also had not been paid to him. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation on 23.02.2018, which was not considered by the respondents. Thus, the petitioner is constrained to move the present writ petition.
4. The respondents in this regard are directed to verify the service record, ascertaining the eligibility of the petitioner and settle the House Rent Allowance due, to the petitioner and other benefits, including the City
Compensatory Allowance and pay the same as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With these directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
