ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to pay interest to the petitioner at the rate of 9% per annum for the belated payment of his Provident Fund, Leave Liability and Gratuity Amount within a time limit as fixed by this Court.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the first respondent Corporation on 22.03.1998 and had retired from service on 31.05.2024. However, the Provident Fund, Leave Liability and Gratuity Amount have been settled only on 02.12.2025. Therefore, the petitioner claimed 9% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits and he has also made representation on 12.12.2025 to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which has not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
