PRAYER: This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to transfer petitioner's husband Mr.Jagan @ Jagadeesan S/o Sunderraj from Central Prison, Tiruchirappalli District to Central prison, Puzhal, Chennai in pursuance of her representation dated 17.12.2025.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by P.Velmurugan J.) The writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.12.2025, wherein the petitioner, who is the wife of a life convict prisoner, has requested for transfer of her husband from Central Prison, Tiruchirapalli to Central Prison, Puzhal, Chennai, on humanitarian grounds.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that her husband has been undergoing incarceration for more than 19 years, that he has maintained good conduct in prison, and that due to the distance between Chennai and Tiruchirapalli, the petitioner and her children are put to severe hardship in visiting him. Since no orders have been passed on the said representation, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the petitioner's representation dated 17.12.2025 is pending consideration before the competent authority and that the same would be considered within the time stipulated by this Court.
4. In view of the above submission, and considering the limited prayer sought for in the writ petition, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, the respondents are directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.12.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
