ORDER

The petitioner herein was appointed on 05.01.2007 by the second respondent as an Anganwadi Worker. Through the impugned order dated 19.01.2007, her appointment was cancelled, on the ground that she was not a resident of the village in which the post was called for. In her place, another person was appointed on 19.01.2007.

2. One of the essential requirements for appointment to the post of Anganwadi Worker is that the incumbent should be a native of the village in which the post is called for. When it was found that the petitioner did not belong to that village, there is no infirmity in the order of the second respondent, cancelling her appointment and appointing somebody else in that place. Even otherwise, the sixth respondent, who was appointed in the place of the petitioner, has been serving in the post for the past 15 years and as such, it would not be appropriate to disturb her appointment, after a long passage of time.
