Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus call for the records relating to the list of Provisionally selected candidates released on 26.08.2008 pursuant to the written examination held on 24.08.2008 for the selection of Graduate Engineer Trainees / Executive Trainees by the respondents herein and quash the same and consequently direct the 1st respondent to conduct fresh written examination for the selection of Graduate Engineer Trainees/Executive Trainees based on the advertisement number 6/08 and release the results within a stipulated time.

Challenging the notification issued for appointment to the post of Graduate Engineer (Trainee)/ Executive Engineer (Trainee) in various categories by the respondents, the instant writ petition has been filed.

2. None appeared for the petitioner. Learned counsel appearing for the respondents on instructions would submit that the aforesaid recruitment to the post of Graduate Engineer (Trainee)/Executive Engineer (Trainee) has already been abandoned by the respondents and in view of the decision taken by the respondents, nothing survives in the writ petition.

3. Recording the said statement made by the counsel appearing for the respondents, the writ petition stands dismissed as infructuous. No costs.
