ORDER
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent police to file a final report in Crime No.561/2014 pending on his file, as early as possible.
2. The case of the petitioner is that as against one Sekar and others, he has lodged a complaint with the respondent police and the same was registered as FIR in Crime No.561 of 2014 for the offences punishable under Sections 120(b), 294(b), 506(i) and 420 IPC. Though the complaint was registered on 07.10.2014, no steps have been taken by the respondent police. Hence, the petitioner moved a petition in Crl.O.P.No.20549 of 2016 before this Court. By order dated 09.09.2016, the said petition was disposed of by directing the respondent to file a final report as expeditiously as possible. Even thereafter, final report was not filed. Therefore, the petitioner has no other alternative except to approach this Court with the present petition for the above stated relief.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who took notice for the respondent.

4. This Court is of the view that despite the order of this Court, the delay on the part of the respondent in filing the final report, cannot be countenanced. However, in order to provide an opportunity to the respondent, this Court directs the respondent police to investigate the case in Crime No.561 of 2014 pending on his file and file a final report, as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition is ordered.
