ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for direction directing the respondents to provide employment to the petitioner or in the alternative to the petitioner's daughter under Land given category forthwith.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioner's great grandfather owned an extent of 1.34 acres of land comprised in Survey No.842 situated at Pugalur, Kagithapuram, Karur District. In the year 1982, the said land was acquired for construction of the Paper Mills in the said area. The Government of Tamil Nadu had formulated a "Land Given Category Scheme" to provide employment to those persons from whom lands were acquired. The petitioner's grandfathers were issued five tokens assuring employment to five members of their family. On 26.10.1985, the second respondent called the petitioner's mother to attend an enquiry on 07.11.1985 and informed that only one of their family member would be provided employment under Land Given Category. Thereafter, one of the family member was given employment and subsequently, he died. Therefore, another representation was made to the second respondent to provide employment under the Land Given Category. 2/4

4. A perusal of the counter filed by the respondents revealed that the Land Given Category employment is given to any one of the following family member of the land owner ;

(i) Spouse (ii) Son / Daughter (iii) Son-in-law / Daughter-in-law (iv) Grand Son / Grand Daughter (v) Grand Son-in-law / Grand Daughter-in-law (vi) Legally adopted son prior to issue of 4(1) notification

5. Now the petitioner sought for employment for his daughter. She is a great grand daughter of the land owner. Therefore, the employment under the Land Given Category cannot be extended to the great grand children of the land owner. Therefore, the direction sought for in this writ petition cannot be considered.

6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
