PETITION under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act to punish the respondents, who have wilfully and wantonly disobeyed the order of this Court dated 30.1.2014 in W.P.No.1220 of 2014.

ORDER

This contempt petition has been filed alleging willful disobedience of the interim direction/observations made in W.P.No.1220 of 2014 in the order dated 30.1.2014, in which, there is a mention that this Court directed vide order dated 10.1.2014 that no steps should be taken to change the revenue records till 17.1.2014.

2. It is submitted by Mr.Thangasivan, learned counsel for respondents 4 to 8 that well before the said date, the revenue records have been mutated, that the names of respondents 4 to 8 have been mutated in the revenue records, that thereafter, they got police protection and took possession and that their right, title and possession were declared by the competent civil court as confirmed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

3. Accordingly, the contempt petition is closed. However, since the matter pertains to issuance of patta and since the private respondents are stated to have gone upto the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the civil proceedings and succeeded and in view of the fact that the revenue records 3/4

have already been mutated and that they were put in possession, status quo regarding the entries in the revenue records as well as possession, which is stated to be in the hands of the private respondents prevailing as on date i.e. 06.12.2019 shall be maintained till the disposal of WP.Nos.1220 and 3371 of 2014.
