Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the respondent from dispossessing us from the property in Cadastre No.226, situate in Ariyankuppam Revenue Village, Pondicherry Registration District and Pondicherry SubRegistration District containing a total extent of about 30 kuzhies is bounded on the east by Ariyankkupam burial ground, west by land of Rathinavel Gounder, north by R.S.No.68/3 and south by Veerampattinam Road.

Heard both sides and perused the records.

2. The prayer made in this writ petition is to forbear the respondent from dispossessing the petitioners from the property in Cadastre No.226, situated at Ariyankuppam Revenue Village, Pondicherry.

3.On 08.12.2009, when the matter was taken up for admission, this Court has granted an order of statusquo, which was subsequently, extended from time to time, till 04.01.2010. Thereafter, there was no interim order in favour of the petitioners.

4. Considering the nature of the relief sought for herein, this Court is of the view that it is unnecessary to pursue this writ petition at this distant point of time. Hence, the writ petition stands closed, leaving it open to the authorities to take further steps in respect of the property in question, under due process of law. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also closed.
