..Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the 5th and 6th respondents to reclassify the petitioner's land in Survey No.81 /1 in Meladhanur Village, Tindivanam Taluk, Villupuram District as "agricultural land" from "residential plot" as per the revenue records and rectify the error in the guideline register by considering the petitioner's representation dated 25/08/2025. ORDER

The petitioner asserts that lands owned by him in S.No.81/1 have always been classified as agricultural lands in the relevant revenue records. When the petitioner verified the records of the Registration Department while intending to

sell the land, it is stated that the petitioner were shocked to discover that the guideline value had been erroneously calculated on square foot basis by treating the land as residential. After submitting representation dated 25.08.2025 seeking re-classification, the present writ petition has been filed.

2. Mr.U.Baranidharan, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice for all the respondents. On the basis of written instructions, he submits that the matter has to be decided by the District Level Committee functioning under the District Collector. Therefore, he submits that the representation would be considered and disposed of on merits.

3. Considering the above submissions, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the fifth respondent to consider representation dated 25.08.2025 and dispose of the same on merits within two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
