Respondent Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay 10% interest towards belated settlement of terminal benefits such as Provident Fund, Gratuity, Leave Salary and commutation of pension amount to the petitioners.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction to pay interest at 10% per annum towards the belated settlement of terminal benefits like Provident Fund, Gratuity, Leave Salary and commutation of pension amount, to the petitioners. In this connection, the petitioners had given representation on 21.11.2024. The details are as follows:

3.A direction is issued to the respondents to examine the representations dated 21.11.2024 and it would only be in the interest of the respondents that necessary interest component is paid immediately to the petitioners, as otherwise the liability would only increase. The respondents are also directed to pay 6% interest per annum to the petitioners and this would be effective from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursement. The entire procedure be completed within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 4.With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
