ORDER
This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the First Information Report in Crime No.21 of 2024 on the file of the first respondent. 2.
When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the victim does not belong to the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe community and that a false complaint has been lodged. He further submitted that nevertheless, Crime No.21 of 2024 has been registered for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 506(i) IPC r/w Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), 3(2)(Va) of the SC/ST (PoA) Act. 3.
At this juncture, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the first respondent submitted that the investigation has been completed and the final report has been e-filed on 05.02.2026 before the Judicial Magistrate, Thiruchengode, after dropping the provisions of the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. 4.
Recording the submission made by the learned Government
Advocate (Criminal Side), this Criminal Original Petition stands closed. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is also closed. However, the petitioners are at liberty to challenge the final report in accordance with law, if so advised.
